Profile

Artificial Intelligence Professor and Mentor

The Tamao of 2188 was one of the 15 residents of the 2188 space colony. She was the mentor of the esteemed Professor Chihiro Morimura, and assisted her with the development of Project Ark. Her role on the colony was as a leading authority on artificial intelligence, and she programmed many if not all of the 6 million citizens in Project Ark. She also came up with the idea of growth pods, which pass on humanity's history and learnings.

Story

Before the Nanomachine Infection

While much is unknown about what Tamao Kurabe did prior to the nanomachine infection, she did serve as a mentor for Chihiro Morimura, and also was a leading figure in artificial intelligence.

On the Colony

After escaping the nanomachine incident and boarding the 2188 colony, it can be assumed that Tamao donates her DNA for Project Ark. Tamao Kurabe reminisces about a wooden, single story house that was built in the mid 20th century. It was on her parent's property, standing at 100 years old. Her grandfather used to tell stories about it, with some of his most fondest memories being in that house. Keitaro Miura, who was listening to her, is willing to reproduce the house in the residential zone, even just with old photographs she had. Tamao thanks Keitaro and leaves. Natsuno Minami calls Miura shortly thereafter and talks with Miura about Professor Kurabe. They talk about how old she is, how she looks younger due to nanomachine treatments, that she is Professor Morimura's mentor, and that she specializes in A.I.

Ms. Kurabe was assigned the task of making 6 million A.I., 1.2 million for each sector.

In the log that is supposed to play after the final phase completes normally, Tamao Kurabe from 2188 gives an explanation to the 15 successors. A large amount of genetic information was transported to the new world, allowing for cloning and species-restoration efforts for flora and fauna (including humans) to grow. The 15 kids however, are descendants of those who survived against the nanomachine infection ordeal. They will have to work together to rebuild humanity. She tells them they can mostly leave flora and fauna to grow on their own, but humans cannot. What makes them human is the ongoing growth of culture and knowledge, she believes. The 15 were to stay in their pods and learn about human life on Earth until they reach 20 years old (which never happened). While unsure if the project will succeed, it would be a dream come true for Ms. Kurabe if it did.

"...If you are out there somewhere... if you can hear me...please. Keep weaving the tapestry. Keep the history of humanity alive."

Death

While it is currently unknown how 2188 Tamao Kurabe died, it can be inferred that she died before both 2188 Ryoko Shinonome and 2188 Tetsuya Ida.
