Story
Before the Nanomachine Infection
Before the Nanomachine Infection, Juro Izumi was a Major in the marine corps of 2188. He was the superior and comrade of Takatoshi Hijiyama and Nozomu Yakushiji.
On the Colony
After escaping the nanomachine infection, Izumi boarded the 2188 colony. Izumi's old military comrade, Nozomu Yakushiji flew to the colony with his daughter, Megumi Yakushiji as well. However, Nozumu was already infected with nanomachines when he arrived at the colony, and Takatoshi Hijiyama refused to let him in through the airlock. Juro Izumi, knowing that Nozomu's daughter may not be infected, decided to take a shuttle to retrieve Megumi Yakushiji. With Megumi's life entrusted to him, Izumi stays with her in a shuttle for 24 hours before returning to the colony uninfected.
Chihiro Morimura, Izumi's lover, was killed sometime later by Ei Sekigahara. Izumi was heartbroken about her death, and decides to insert a Morimura AI into Project Ark's data. He then edits the program in hopes that the Morimura AI's memory and personality will overwrite the clone's, and the 2188 Chihiro Morimura can lead Project Ark in that new body.
Death
After Ei Sekigahara blew up the power generator to assasinate Morimura, there were disputes on what the colonists should use their remaining energy for. The colonists either had to use the rest of the energy for Project Ark, or use the rest of the energy to keep life support going. Tsukasa Okino and Takatoshi Hijiyama wanted to keep using energy to keep life support operational, while Juro Izumi and Nenji Ogata wanted to devote the remaining energy to Project Ark. Eventually, the debate grew so heated that Juro Izumi shot Tsukasa Okino, and a shootout between the colonists broke out. Juro Izumi was finally killed by Takatoshi Hijiyama, as vengeance for Okino's murder.
