Sakura High School
Overview
Sakura High School is a comprehensive junior and senior high school located in the heart of Ashitaba City. It has a student body of 512. Each grade is made up of five classes, from A to E.[1] It is affiliated with Shikishima Industries.[2]
History
Sakura High School was a national school during World War II, with its focus less on education and more on basic training, and tactics. It was known as Sakura National School at the time.[3] Due to the war, when the school first opened in 1944, no students were able to attend, and were instead either enlisted or a part of the labour force in factories.[4]
It originally consisted of a two-storey high wooden building. A west building was added in 1985 which is three storeys high.[5] A new four-storey building was also completed in the spring of 1985.[6]
Classes
- 1-A: Yuki Takamiya
- 1-B: Juro Kurabe, Iori Fuyusaka, Tomi Kisaragi, Miwako Sawatari, Kyuta Shiba
- 1-C: Megumi Yakushiji, Natsuno Minami
- 1-D: Nenji Ogata, Erika Aiba
- 1-E: Shu Amiguchi[7]
- 2-A: Renya Gouto
Ryoko Shinonome's class is not stated, other than confirming that she is a second-year student in Double Helix, and that she does not share a class with anyone (so she is, at least, not in 2-A).
Chihiro Morimura is also the homeroom teacher of class 1-B.[8]
Uniform
Like most Japanese schools, Sakura High School also has a policy which requires its students to wear a uniform.[9] The uniform is the same regardless of grade level.[10]
Girls' Uniform
The girls' uniform is a sailor uniform with a wide collar, and a large purple ribbon at the front. It is accompanied by a pleated skirt.[11]
Boys' Uniform
The boys' uniform consists of a gakuran with a stand-up collar, and pants with a pleat.[12]
Student Bags
Students usually carry a student bag, which is either made of leather or artificial leather.[13]
Gym Uniform
The gym uniform (at least in Sector 4) consists of navy blue bloomers with two white stripes at the sides, and a white t-shirt with a blue collar. It is optionally accompanied by a pale green jacket with a navy blue collar and cuffs.
P.E. Bag
Students participating in physical education or clubs will use a vinyl bag.[14] It is white, with a purple stripe running horizontally across the center.
Student ID
Each Sakura High School student has their own Student ID, indicating their year, class, name, and birthday.
Campus
Sakura High School has a modest campus. At the entrance to the school is the front gate. Through the front gate, to the left is the school's baseball field, and behind that is the athletics building, which is outfitted with a locker room. To the right through the gate is the new school building, with the old school building behind it.
The new school building has a cafeteria on the first floor of its south building, a nurse's office, and a previously-sealed-off rooftop that a certain student broke the lock on.[15]
The science room is in the west building that was added in 1985.
There is an exposed passageway that connects the new school building to the old school building. In 1944, there was a potato field growing next to it.[16]

- ↑ While his section is not specifically stated, it can be inferred from looking at Double Helix's character profiles (specifically, the "classmate" 級友 section) that he does not share his section with any of the other students. It does state that he is still a first-year student, however, so that means Amiguchi must be in 1-E.
