Suggestion on how to describe the story

So, it should be obvious to anyone who saw the game, that describing its story is not a trivial task because it is highly intended for you to experience it the way it is presented. However, if someone just wants to know without doing so or wants a reminder or clarification of some particular part, this should be useful.

My suggestion is this: use 2 ways to describe it from start to finish: "objective" and "subjective".

The objective way would be writing straight facts of chronology from the point of view of all-knowing narrator or historian. This could be made as a single dedicated page. To do so I recommend keep game's post-game Event Archive open in "all" view. This should describe all scientific concepts that are used and referenced by mentioning and linking to appropriate wiki pages, such as Project Ark being straight-up "replicating seeder ships" and kaiju being "berserkers"[1] (but only in-simulation kaiju and not real-life terraforming & colony-building machinery, even though it's also self-replicating). Also it should include mentions and/or description of overall themes and shared plot devices[2].

The subjective way is writing a collection of stories for each main character (not just protagonist but all listed in Event Archive and maybe some that aren't). This could be done in as a whole in Remembrance or each character's page individually. For that it's good to have this character's story open in the Event Archive. This should be written as it is presented in the game: strictly from character's point of view at every moment, as if you were describing their though-cloud yourself but shorter or were them writing their own autobiography from 3rd person. This should include description for all fictional references[3] in each story and usage of plot devices and player's expectations.

Both should heavily reference Mystery Files which should have complete rip-dump page here with annotations for clarifications on their parts. And also Kamitani interviews[4]. Maybe also prominent analysis of some fans[5]. 08:07, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

  2. Fore example:
    • leitmotif (such as "Will to Win", "A F8ful Struggle", "Heated Debate", "The Ones Who Were Plugged In", "Inherit Humanity", "The Only Neat Life to Live") and theming (such as , "A Cruel Thesis" being reference in name and tone to the original name of "Neon Genesis Evangelion" and its tone) in music;
    • main/title theme's name, "Brat Overflow", having literal meaning of overflowing the universe, like a virus, with brats that are unable to reach maturity, and "-{EDGE OF THE FUTURE}" being its endgame "reflection"; the epicness of "Voyage to Tomorrow";
    • player pressing START at the beginning sakura/cherry petals being foreshadowing for final battle at Sakura High (with cherry tree at the gates) in Sakura Ward, itself being allegory for The Facility, in which whole story takes place, that was intended to be the life's school about old civilization for leaders & creators of the new one, as in "relate the meaning of sapient life".
  3. Such as Neon Genesis Evangelion (the whole thing), Steins;Gate (?), The girl who leapt through time (Iori's story), Madoka Magica (Megumi's story), first 2 movies and SAC of Ghost in the Shell (?), All you need is kill / Edge of Tomorrow, The Alien Machine / This Island Earth (innerlocitors / innerocitor), Pacific Rim (or, supposedly, Robot Jox), Star Wars ("UFO Wars" and "in the galaxy far-far" away post-ending), WALL•E & ET (BJ), The War of the Worlds, Men in Black (Natsuno's story), Terminator 1/2/3 (teleportation effects, Izumi & Morimura's anti-space terrorism, bathroom fight), Total Recall (whole Ei's story), Sixth Day (Ida's story & Kengo Ogata's delusion), Back to the Future, WarGames (?), 2001/2010/2061/3001 Space Odyssey & The Sentinel series, all fiction of Arthur Clarke, H. G. Wells, Isaac Asimov, etc.
